The summer of 2004 saw the lowest youth employment rate in NYC in over two decades. While youth struggle to get a decent education and jobs for teens are at an all-time low, funding for jails and detention centers continue to increase. G.A.P. youth spent the summer exploring this connection and produced a creative reflection on this enduring problem.
Celebrate Global Action Project's 20th Anniversary!
20 years of youth making media, making change
Twenty years ago Global Action Project started in a single room with a single project, serving a handful of young people. Today Global Action Project annually supports the creative and political engagement of nearly 75 youth and scores of community organizers across the country. To celebrate two decades of media production and social justice work, G.A.P. has launched a 20th Anniversary Campaign. Our goal is to raise $50,000 between now and the end of 2011.
We have many ways for our friends and allies to participate, and we'll be telling you about them in the months to come. Or you can make a donation right now.

Did you participate in G.A.P. programs ten or twenty years ago? Are you a former staff member? We need your snap shots, your action shots, your stills from that time. We want shots from every year and every program. Have any favorite photos you'd like to share for use on the website and at our 20th Anniversary Benefit, please
